Okra Clove Collagen Toner: Better Than Botox
Few kitchen staples rival the skin-firming synergy of fresh okra and aromatic cloves. Okra’s vitamin-C-rich mucilage mimics collagen on the surface while helping your skin manufacture more of its own. Clove buds, packed with antioxidant eugenol, boost circulation and visibly soften fine lines. When these botanicals are blended with soothing rose water, antioxidant green tea, humectant glycerin, aloe vera, and vitamin E oil, they create a lightweight spray that hydrates, lifts, and brightens—without a needle in sight.
Ingredients Required
6–8 fresh okra pods, sliced lengthwise
1 tablespoon whole cloves
½ cup strong green-tea infusion (brew two teabags in hot water, then cool)
¼ cup pure rose water
2 tablespoons fresh aloe-vera gel
1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
4–6 drops vitamin E oil
Optional: ½ teaspoon cold-pressed grapeseed oil for an extra tightening boost
Procedure
Extract the okra gel
Combine the sliced okra with 1 cup filtered water in a small saucepan.
Simmer on low for about 8 minutes until the liquid turns slightly viscous.
Let cool, then strain through a fine mesh or cheesecloth. Reserve the clear, slippery liquid.
Infuse the cloves
Add the whole cloves to the warm okra extract.
Steep for 10 minutes to release their fragrance and eugenol.
Strain once more to remove all solids.
Blend the actives
In a sterilized mixing bowl, combine the okra-clove extract with cooled green tea, rose water, aloe gel, glycerin, and vitamin E oil.
If using grapeseed oil, whisk it in now until the mixture looks uniform.
Bottle the toner
Transfer the blend into a 100 ml amber or blue glass spray bottle.
Label with the name and date of preparation.
