Soft Homemade Bread Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
3 ½ cups (420 g) all-purpose flour or bread flour
2 ¼ tsp (7 g / 1 packet) active dry yeast or instant yeast
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (~110°F / 43°C)
2 tbsp (30 g) unsalted butter, softened (+ extra for greasing)
2 tbsp (25 g) sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg (optional, for extra richness)

1. Activate the Yeast (if using active dry yeast):
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar.
Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
(Skip this step if using instant yeast—add it directly to the flour.)
2. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl or stand mixer, mix flour and salt.
Add the yeast mixture (or dry instant yeast), softened butter, and egg (if using).
Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
3. Knead the Dough:
By hand: Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
With a mixer: Use a dough hook on medium speed for 5–6 minutes.
